B:" having been made", unidiomatic; "had not invented" is the wrong tense
C:wordy ; "had not invented" is the wrong tense
D: the part "on hearing..." do not have a subject
E: "heard of .. being made" , unidiomatic

please always avoid "being done"; "having been done" structrues
