D. Scientists have become ever more accurate in their ability for providing models of the atmosphere's complex responses to changing conditions, like seasonal and daily cycles or different planetary conjunctions.

Doubt:IS ability of unidiomatic ?. Can somebody explain the approach to such long questions ? These types of questions looks a bit scary .

Such kind of questions, though time taking, are easy as they will have many grammatical issues.

For this question,
1. "ability" is singular and cannot take a plural verb. Hence, "have" cannot be present in the verb. This eliminates A and E.

2. "like" cannot be followed by examples. This eliminates D.

3. "ability of" is not a correct usage. This eliminates B.

Hence, the OA would be C.

Just a minor correction. B does not use "ability of", but uses "ability in". For example, following would be correct:

The ability of a person to endure hardships, is a true indicator of a person's character.
