I got this problem on GMAT prep

OA is D, which sounds ambiguous. Since in the first clause, there is no indication for use of but

Very good discussion here: https://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/not ... t3129.html

Not only did [noun phrase] create and give...

Umm, there's a missing link my head that isn't fully connecting such construction to make sense. I guess I have to read more again.

I guess another example would be something like:

I am leaving this lousy town and moving to a better place.

Auxiliary verb "am" is dropped from the 2nd verb "moving" because it is connected by AND, thus you won't say something like:

I am leaving this lousy town and am moving to a better place.

Also note that only the first "verb" of the verb constituent should show tense, "did give" was the entire verb constituent, and that is why in the other thread, the poster was saying that "gave" should be in the basic form "give".
