Hi ,

IMO -- WEATHER is used to introduce alternative possibilities and IF is used to introduce an idea that has one possibility.

My doubt -- is TRAINED AS wrong?

It can be correct in some other context.
However, in this particular context, it is incorrect.

Don't analyze answer choices in isolation or in absolute way.
Go relative.

Further, keep contextual information in mind while analyzing answer choices.
