1.

Whenever given 2 rates find the difference of the rates. First change rev/min to rev/s
P makes (1/6 )rev/s Q makes ( 2/3) rev/s.
2/3-1/6= ½ (rev/s) So Q is ahead by half rev/s . If Q is to be bhead by 6rev, he will do it in (watch the units) 6rev/1/2(rev/s) =12s.

1. 12 secs ( as described above)

2. 8pi

side of square = 4
Diagonal = 4root(2)
radius = 2root92)
area of circle = 8pi

3. $16

Let x be cost

80 - x = x/4 gives x = 64

Profit = 80 - 64 = 16

4. 2hr 40 min

Files processed by 1st comp in an hour = 60
Files processed by 2nd comp in an hour = 30
Together = 60 + 30 = 90/hr

240/90 = 2 Hr 40 mins..

5. 155

Total hours = 1 + 1300/150 = 9.66

Avg = 1500/9.66 = 155 (approx)

Can you explain where the 4 comes into the equation? Also how did you get x=64
