GMAT Prep PS question

Please somebody explain me this question and its answer. It is either me or the english in the question. I do not get it. What does "100 units of Country R's currency mean"?

Arithmetic mean =(100+I/100)/2..
Adding 2 percent of income we get 2I/100+((100+I/100)/2)
= 50+I/40..
yea agree wordings are a little tricky
