As i could understand from the passage, it said that today such gravitational compensation will probably not occur:the outer layer of the moon are too cold and stiff.

Then how come the correct answer is A ?

Hey there,

This one follows a formal logic " If X then Y, if not X , then Not Y".

X: Early Lunar Period

Y : Gravity Compensation

From the passage, the last line says that " thus today such gravitational compensation never occur". This connotes that
large multi basin rings have formed due to " No Gravity Compensation".

SO going back to principle : " If not X, then not Y".
Since no graviy compensation occured, it has NOT happened in EARLY lunar period.

This one calls for bit of " inference" from the passage.

I have a doubt, passage also says Scientists speculate that in early lunar history when large impactors struck the moon surface ... leaving no low gravity anomaly in the resulting basin ?? Lines 10 -14

Now this is basis for our understanding. "early lunar history " is the keyword. Later Moon became less elastic to bounce back and henceforth negative gravity anomalies.


Ok, another technique, Try to negate the Option A:

" were NOT formed early in Moon History"

Afer Negation :

" were formed early in Moon History".. So if this true, the stated fact in the passage gets hurt. So it gives to our understanding that Option A is " probably" true.
