Hi all,

Just had a question about this one.

FYI, I took this from zuleron's list of 198 gmat prep questions. the answer is D. Since it's a 3:80 ratio and 5 TA's, least common multiple is 15 for TA's so converts to 15:400. Since ratio is bigger than this change to 15:399. Dividing by 3 for both gives 5:133 or D.

Initially, I decreased the ratio to 3:79 rather than finding common multiples and then decreasing but now I'm under the impression that you can never alter the ratio but only the actual number. I'm actually pretty sure about this but just looking for quick confirmation. Thanks!

122) Ratio of TAs to students in any course must always be greater than 3:80, what is the maximum number of students possible in a course with 5 TAs?

This would be my approach

3 TAs for every 80 students
1 TA for every 80/3 students. Hence for 5 TAs (80/3)*5= 400/3 ~133 (whole number)
