Hi Everyone -

I'm trying to decide what course I should take. I've heard that PowerScore and Test Masters are excellent courses. However, when I searched available classes, the only one of the two offering a class in my area was PowerScore and its not even a full length class. PowerScore is offering a weekend class that runs just two days...verses taking a class with Kaplan, Veritas, or the Princeton Review that runs for a month.

Any suggestions?

In my experience, it depends on where your GMAT score is today and where you want to go. I did Kaplan tutoring which I found to be very helpful. Kaplan offers two sets of regulars courses: regular GMAT and advanced GMAT. From my assessment, the regular is focused on students scoring in the 500's who want to get up into mid to high 600's. The advanced is for students already scoring in mid to high 600's. I personally didn't find the regular classes helpful when I attended a couple of sessions.

I have generally heard pretty good things about Manhattan GMAT courses

This is my first time taking the GMAT and I haven't taken any practice tests yet. I'm JUST starting to do my research and will be scheduling the GMAT for later this year.

Take a GMAT diagnostic just to get a sense of where you are. The GMAT Prep software on mba.com is the best representation of the actual test though you may want to save those two tests for later in your studies.

All the test prep companies offer free practice tests. Take one and find out where you stand which will help you make the decision on prep courses,
