Your explanation is perfect. Only thing i didnt understand was the "fact" part. how will be determine the fact part?

The way I eliminiated was as follows -

B and D is eliminated for Subject - verb agreement problem

the participle phrase provided...and milked...should be a modifier for cows


In A, it sounded that farmer took care of them to keep cool, by providing ....and milking...,holstein cows.

Same was the problem with C.

Hence I choose E.

Well the sentence is stating a fact that if the farmers do A,B and C, the Holstein Cows will produce X liters of milk.
And all factual statements are supposed to be stated in base form of verb. So we choose 'produce' over 'producing'.

Well these are questions which when you see in the test you're first reaction is 'Oh my God, Im so doomed!!!' . In simple words this was a pretty tricky and interesting question.

lol..interesting way to look at it...
my test in less than 24hrs..I thought I was missing some basic concept or question type... :roll:
