I just took the GMAT for the first time last Friday. I am very ashamed to admit it, but I scored a 360. That's the first time I've ever taken a standardized test like this and I was also very nervous. Anyway, I never took the SAT because I went to a community college before transferring to a university and it simply wasn't required. So, that probably doesn't help me in this situation. My background: I have a BA in English (3.3 GPA) and a BBA in Information Systems (3.0 GPA).
Anyway -- on the GMAT -- the quantitative section really devoured me. By the time I got to the verbal, I was exhausted from the quant and so I could have probably done better on that, too. I studied for a few months before taking the test.
I need to raise my score to at least a 600. I've deferred my application to Fall 2012 so that I have time to raise my GMAT score. So, that gives me until June 1, 2012 to improve.
Can anyone recommend a book/books that will help me really review basic math skills that I need on the GMAT? I studied Princeton Review Math Workout, Princeton Review Cracking the GMAT, and OG 12.
Admittedly, I should probably have felt more comfortable with OG 12 before I took the actual test. However, I think I need some resources that will help me remember basic geometry, algebra, conversion problems, etc. Resources that I can use before moving on to GMAT-specific resources.
I can't afford to spend $1000 or more on GMAT prep classes. I admit that math is not my strength, but with enough effort and focus, I think I can conquer it (I got As and Bs in College Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, etc...but, it has been too long). I'm 37, so I've been out of school long enough to forget...
