GMAT in Israel. That's right...

by farbeyond » Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:27 pm
Hi everyone,

I'm from Israel and I'm planning on taking the GMAT in April.
Quick 411: Studying for an MBA degree in Israel means you only need to provide the Quantitative score in admission. The studies aren't in English so the verbal/essay parts are irrelevant. In practice I'll be taking a 75min exam which consists of the Math part alone.

Now some of you may consider this a blessing, and in many ways it is, however it does mean that my Math score must be near perfect to get into the program I want.
I'm interested in possible feedback from the community, if you were to prepare for a GMAT which consists of only the math part, which books would you focus on and what would be your study plan? I'm on a full time job and getting married so I can only afford about 2-3 hours a day (plus weekends) to focus on the matter.

Replies welcome ;)

Although books are one of the least expensive study aids, I recommend you take a free trial of a hybrid prep option, such as Master GMAT ( https://mastergmat.com ), before making your choice. Such a prep would combine an online program that adapts to your individual skills with live tutor support for areas in which you have extraordinary difficulties. Since the program is online, you can basically log in any time you are free, easily accommodating your 2-3 weekly hour schedule.

To my knowledge, Master GMAT is the only program that also offers online or face to face tutoring sessions (at no additional cost). Since you say you're in Israel, you'll be glad to know there is a Master GMAT tutoring center in Ramat Gan. We also offer Quantitative-only courses at a reduced price for students applying to Israeli Universities.

FYI, there are MBA programs in Israel in English. Check out www.biu.ac.il/imba. The International MBA at Bar-Ilan University is a one year program which has been in existence 14 years. You will need to take both the verbal and the quantitative parts of the GMAT but you can skip the essay section.
