gmat in 10 days, recent practice test scores

by kunsjoi » Sat Nov 01, 2008 8:55 am
My GMAT is 10 days from now and here are a couple of recent practice test scores.

GmatPrep 1: 710 (Q: 50, V: 36)

Manhattan Gmat CAT 1: 670 (Q: 45, 77 percentile, V: 36, 81 percentile. Overall: 89 percentile)

I must say that Manhattan GMAT Quant section was way tougher than GmatPrep. I used it mainly for timing myself. I was able to do 33 Questions and had to randomly guess on 4 questions. Verbal section was also quite tough specifically sentence correction.

Tomorrow and next week my focus is Verbal/Quant supplemental guides, OG 11 revision, couple of attempts of GmatPrep 2, and 3-4 more practice tests (with AWA).

Any other ideas or suggestions you folks have?

In last 2 days I gave two tests: Kaplan Online CAT 3 and Gmat Prep 2 (try 1). Here are my scores and some observations:

Kaplan Online CAT 3.
Score 680 (M: 51, 99 percentile. V: 30, 60 percentile)

I found the math to be very easy. Have any of you felt the same about math sections of Kaplan online CATs? Their verbal was tougher than either MGMAT or GMATPrep. Specially the CRs and RCs. They were extremely tough to read.

GmatPrep Test 2 (Try 1)
Score 740 (M: 49, V: 42)

Even though I got a good scaled score on math, I faltered on pacing strategy. I had to guess questions 31 - 37. (Not Good!!!!). Verbal was fairly easy. If its going to be this easy on real GMAT I think I can get more than 40.

Most people here seem to agree that MGMAT math is a lot harder than the real GMAT. People usually say Kaplan is harder too, but especially that the scoring is off, but that the online Kaplan test is easier. So I wouldn't worry about the Kaplan or MGMAT scores too much.

There's another free online test on Princeton Review's site. I found the PR CATs to be pretty accurate, so try that one too.

I found princeton CATs to be way too easy. I took the princeton CAT when I was beginning my preparations, and scored 47 on quant. It was way too easy. I think all I'm going to do in next 2 days is practice verbal and quant from supplemental guides and give another shot at GMATPrep 2. I don't think I'm going to do either MGMAT or Kaplan CATs. I already feel saturated from practicing. I want to relax a bit now and take it easy so that I'm fresh and energetic before the exam.
