Hi,

Today, I went to mba.com to register for GMAT exam during July end and after selecting the date and time, I was displayed an option where it was mentioned that during July 2nd- August 19th 2011, the GMAT exam will be of 4.5 hours and will contain some research questions. Now, I am pretty confused and want you guys to help me out to resolve my doubts...

1) Will these GMAT research questions appear as part of the standard test.
2) Will these GMAT research questions affect the score in anyway.
3) Is it safe to go ahead and book the appointment during the same time period when these questions will be appearing.(this is my second attempt and want to play safe)

Please suggest as I need to schedule my GMAT exam asap.

You are aware, I'm sure, that the GMAT is changing formats soon. The announcement you received is surely related to that change. The GMAT bases most of its scoring on the past performance of other students. I assume that this is the GMAT's way of collecting data so that when they release the new version, they will be able to accurately score people.

Most likely, you will be asked to complete the additional, new sections, but those sections will not count towards your score.

All the same, if you want the GMAT to offer absolutely no surprises, I suggest that you take it before July 2nd!
