If its true that z<8 and 2z>-4, which of the following must be true?

a. -8<z<4
b. z>2
c. z>-8
d. z<4
e. none of the above

oa is c

but i think its E

the qs says MUST be true, and the OA maybe/may not be true....

2z > -4 means that z > -2. This combined with the first inequality takes us to -2 < z < 8. We need to eliminate options:

A. if z = 6, then z > 4, but still -2 < z < 8 - A is out

B. if z = 1, then z < 2, but still -2 < z < 8 - B is out

C. since z is greater than -2, z will also be always greater than -8 (since -8 < -2). This is why C is indeed correct.

D. pick the same example as in A to eliminate this one as well.
