What I meant to ask is whether a 4 year old GMAt score will put me at a disadvantage as compared to a newer score- say a 1 year old score. ( i know its valid for 5 years, but will a 4 year old GMAt score affect my chances in anyway) Sorry for not being clear in the earlier post.

You're GMAT is valid and I don't think would put you at a disadvantage just because its old. Just like a GPA of an applicant from 3 years ago is no more valid than a GPA of someone 6 years ago. Of course in this case, GPA's dont' expire. My point is that, if at the time you are applying, your score is valid, then its valid.

Don't forget as well that schools like reporting high GMAT scores for their incoming classes. As long as the score is valid, they could careless if its 5 years old or 1.
