Hi guys,

Im an Indian male Looking for some advice regarding MBA application for 2013 Aug. Based on the details provided below plz provide ur thoughts and suggestions.

GMAT-700 (q-46,v-40) 90 percentile

GPA 3.3(Highest ranked private university in india)

WE: 3.3 yrs in Indian IT Industry focused on Security Engineering for Banking Services Clients.

Schools Targeted:
Ross
Tuck
Darden
NUS
MBS(Melbourne Business School)

I believe 700 isn't enough to get into most of the above schools and am seriously considering another attempt.Please share your thoughts and advice on the next step to take.Any advice would be appreciated.

700 is certainly a competitive score, and falls squarely in the 80% range for most if not all of the schools above. I get that the Indian mentality is to focus on test scores (I lived in India for 6 years) but really, as almost every thread here points out, it's about the overall package.

GPA might be a little towards the low side (not saying it's a weakness; I have the same GPA), but I think it comes down to the quality of your work experience, as well as your post-MBA goals and career path. Maybe you can shed some more light on your overall profile?

My overall Profile:

WE 3.3 Years(Security Engineering.Work entails communication and co-ordination with multiple teams concurrently across geographies and timezones.
GMAT:700
Undergraduate GPA: 3.3
Extra Curricular:

High School: Led a team as a part of an initiative that provided free food and clothing across hundreds of villages in rural Andhra Pradesh(India)

College: Part of University initiative which conducted free annual blood donation camps in the district of Vellore Tamil Nadu(India)

Currently volunteer in a Company initiative to provide education to underprivileged children in karnataka India

Post MBA Goals: Post MBA,I would like to venture into Consulting or Corporate Strategy.

Please let me know ur thoughts and suggestions regarding the competitiveness of my profile and schools i should be targeting.
