Hey Folks,

THis is my first post on the Beatthegmat forum. I've been procrastinating on my test date and I've now finally decided to take the test on the the 27th of November.

I have roughly 35 days till test day and I would appreciate any advice on how to get a really good score on this test.

I haven't taken any diagnostic tests yet , but I've done pretty okay on the OG diagnostic. I have the MGMAT, Kaplan and MBA.com tests as practice material and all the mgmat study guides. I've finished the CR and Word Translations guide, but I don't think finishing all the guides is a good way to go about prepping for the tests.

My goal would be to
1. finish the three OGs
2. finish the Math guides
First two weeks
3. Start taking tests on MGMAT, Kaplan and Power prep tests for the next 20 days.

That's a total of 12 tests, so a test maybe every two days. I've also signed up for the beatthegmat practice questions.
I think the study materials I have right now are a LOT. I wonder if I can finish it all in one month.

Does this sound like a good plan or is it ultra aggressive?
Any tips and advice would really help.

I've got a 650 (Q38/V39) on the MGMAT diagnostic test.

So any suggestions would really really help.

I see no point in taking a test every two days. You need to spend time on concepts and theoretical review before anything. Unless you know the underlying concepts, you won't do well in CATs for sure. You see, each CAT contains one or two problems from each topic. But just doing one geometry circles question every two days, two sentence correction pronouns every two days etc. is not going to help you understand why this or that is wrong. You need to spend time on building a solid theoretical base by doing the books you mention and practicing from the OGs.

CATs are just meant to help you with your pacing and to give you an overall idea of where you stand. Other than that, you don't learn too much from them.

Hi Dana,

Thanks a lot for the advice. I guess completing the OGs and the MGMAT guides would be critical at this point. I'll have to try and complete most of the guides-especially word translations and inequalities. I'm not sure if I have enough time to finish all the guides.

Which tests would you recommend taking? Do the Kaplan tests help in any way?
I've also signed up for the beatthegmat practice questions. Did they help you in a dramatic way?
They seem quite helpful at this point, so I'll probably do the MGMAT tests, Powerprep tests and
I need to take tests to understand how to pace myself.
I suppose i'll have to comprehensively cover all the material before doing any of that.

What would you recommend as a four week prep plan on a week by week basis?

I'd appreciate a reply.
