Hello All!

As I go through the PowerScore CR Bible I'm beginning to notice something. I'll carefully read through the chapter and get to the questions at the end. I'm shooting about 50/50 with the given questions. I then read all of the explanations whether I got the question right or wrong.

After reading the explanations to the questions I got wrong, I think to myself "Duh I knew that..." and it's becoming very disheartening. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it that I'm not paying enough attention throughout the chapter? I don't expect to get every question right every single time. I just thought that the questions that I would get wrong are the ones that I didn't really understand.

I guess I just need to pay closer attention to the answer choices :-(

You have to keep a sharp eye all throughout, that's the hardest part of CR and GMAT as a whole.

Usually it's best to disseminate the stem. See what influences what, then go over the Q (again, read well!) and then carefully eliminate answers. At harder difficulties two answers will have probability, but one will be stronger than the other. You have to make this choice based on which answer/solution goes back to the very core of the problem.

I.e. Johnny has a juicer which can produce only 100 glasses of juice per hour. There are 5000 potential clients for Johnny, but most don't like his juice because the taste is poor, therefore he has only 120 clients per hour. Johnnies oranges are of C-quality, and thus is orange juice is subpar.

Usually there'll be the following solutions

A) Johnny should buy a more powerful juicer
B) Johnny should buy A-quality oranges

Yes, A will net to more sales, so a 20% increase is "OK, but he will then hit a plateau. If he did buy better oranges though, he could raise is his price, then buy a new juicer and his client base will hit a plateau at a higher level.

I guess this is where the timing factor comes into play... if I spend 3 minutes on the question my hit rate is higher... would it be best to just try to understand the principles first then down the road begin worrying about timing? I think this is the best for me since I'm just starting my preparation.
