These are similar triangles so NO/24 = 50/40, making NO 30 and then OP 50 because it is a multiple of a 3-4-5 triangle.

If NP=50, how can OP be 50 and be a 3-4-5?

They are similar traingles but their sides are NOT in the ratio of 3:4:5

40 / 50 = 24 / NO
NO = 30

OP = root(50^2 + 30^2)
OP = 10 root(34)

Actually, unless we're given that angle ONP is a right angle, we can't actually prove that these are similar triangles, and thus the question is unsolvable. These triangles are similar only if we can prove that they have all equal angles. Just be sure to include all given information next time!
