Line m and n pass through point (1,2). Is the slope of m greater than the slope of n?

1.) the x-intercept of m is greater than 1 and that of n is less than 1

2.) the y-intercept of m = 4 and that of n = (-2)

IMO Ans D we can say from either of the statement

From 1--> Since x-intercept of m is greater than 1 and it passes through (1,2) it will have obtuse angle with x-axis .On the other hand x-intercept of n is less than 1 and it passes through (1,2) it will have acute angle with x-axis.
hence slope of m will be -ve and slope of n will be +ve
so slope of m < slope of n...(I am not considering absolute values here)-->sufficient

From2-->this provides two points on each of m and n.Hence we can calculate slope.-->sufficient

Line m and n pass through point (1,2). Is the slope of m greater than the slope of n?

Statement 1:
1 - 2/m > 1, m < 0
1 - 2/n < 1, n > 0
Sufficient

Statement 2:
2-m = 4, m = -2
2-n = -2, n = 4
Sufficient

Slope = (y2-y1) / (x2-x1) where x1,y1 and x2,y2 are 2 points on the line

From both statements we can see which has greater slope

So D
