To the best of my knowledge, yes it is redundant to use and with an additive phrase. You may refer to the SC guide of Manhattan, it has some great explanations for additive phrase such as along with will always hold singular etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. I have the Sentence Correction guide, but the section on additive phrases mainly just discusses whether or not the subject is singular or plural. I have seen questions on here where the sentence will have "and" with an additive phrase and everything in the sentence will be right, but the sentence will still be wrong. That is what sparked my question. Thanks for the response.
