A conjunction such as and must serve to connect PARALLEL FORMS.
B: the company, funded by a group of investors and looked to make the most of its first-mover advantage
Here, funded by is an ADJECTIVE, while looked is a VERB.
What KIND of company?
A company FUNDED BY a group of investors.
What did the company DO?
The company LOOKED to make the most of its first-mover advantage.
Since an adjective and a verb are not parallel forms, eliminate B.
