Full time mba chances - sponsored by company, more difficul?

I work for a global electronics company in asia and have over ten years of experience. Our company has an MBA sponsorship program and I recently won the 'ticket'. I want to go to the best school possible. I have no plan to change my career of course; i will remain and grow within the organization. Would my age(40) and long work experience(10+ yrs) work against my admission? Or would my job security and recognition at work help my chances of getting in?

On the contrary!! A company sponsorship is AWESOME! And should help you a lot in your chances. Your job security and the company's faith in you count for a great deal.
However with 10 years experience, and at 40 I would say an EMBA is more your line.

Company sponsorship is a plus, especially given this was a competitive situation (which you can discuss in your essays/interview). You are definitely not a candidate for a traditional full time MBA given your age, so focus on top executive programs with strong ties to Asia as well.
