Every painting hanging in the Hoular Gallery is by a French painter. No painting in the Hoular Gallery is by a Vorticist. Only Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.
If the information above is true, which of the following must also be true?
(A) No French painters are Vorticists.
(B) All Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(C) Some French painters do not use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(D) No French painters use acrylic monochromes in their works.
(E) All French painters who use acrylics use acrylic monochromes in their works

IMO (C).

--No painting in the Hoular Gallery is by a Vorticist.
--Only Vorticists use acrylic monochromes in their works.

From the above facts, we can conclude that no painting in Hoular Gallery uses Acrylic Monochromes.---(1)

--Every painting hanging in the Hoular Gallery is by a French painter.---(2)

Combine (1) & (2) to reach the answer.

D is the answer.

C can weaken the argument.

what is the OA? I would go with C b/c others have extreme language. Thanks.

I would go with C also.

I don't think D has to be true -- Some French painters might use acrylic monochromes in their works, just not the french painters with works hanging in the Hoular.

On the other hand, if a painting is hung in the Hoular, we know its not done by a Vorticist and therefore does not use acrylic monochrome. Since all the Hoular paintings are done by the French, it follows that at least some French painters (those with works in the Hoular) don't use a. monochrome.
