Fraction Integer, fraction integer???

Is x an integer?

1. 6x is a fraction
2. 7x is an integer

So am a bit confused here by stmt 1

Let us take stmt 1 - 6x could equal 12 which is a fraction (12/1) hence x is an integer, however 6x could also equal say 13/7, hence x = 13/42 a fraction. Hence 1 is NOT SUFFICIENT. Does the logic seem reasonable?

In the real test I thought fraction to be 3/4, 5/7 aka anything without a numerator of 1. Then stmt 1 is sufficient to answer the question.

Stmt 2 is not sufficient since 7x could be 70 or 68, hence x is an integer in the former but not in the latter.

The OA is E

The answer surprises me too.
To respond to your reasoning, 12/1 is not a fraction, 12/1 = 1 is an integer.

Statement 1 says, 6x is a fraction. If this is true, x has to be a fraction.
If x were an integer, 6 times x would always be an integer. To me it looks like answer should be A.

Is x an integer?

1. 6x is a fraction
2. 7x is an integer

1. 6X is a fraction --> 6 * some number = fraction...

Numbers picked 1/12, 6, 1/13

X = 1/12 = 6*1/12 = 1/2 True
X = 6 = 18 - Not true.
X = 1/13 .. 6/13 = True..

So 6X is a fraction only holds true when X is a fraction... A is Suff

2. 7X

Numbers - 14 and 22/14

7*14 = Integer
7*22/14 = Integer

InSuff

Answer Should be A...

All integers can be expressed as fractions.

If the intent of (1) was to rule out integer values, then on the GMAT, (1) would have read "6x is not an integer".
