I was killin the math section on the Official GMAT (getting easily over 90%) so far. Considering that these questions who actually tested in previous exams, I would assume that these type of questions (style and difficulty range) is a fair assessment of what's to come on the quantitative section. Would you agree?

I think this is the same with OG 11, but in OG 10 the easiest questions appeared at the beginning of each section--thus, it was pretty easy to perform well at the beginning of the section, and pretty tough toward the end.

How far along are you?

I was using OG11. I have done about 150 or so questions and must have gotten at least 90% correct. There are times I get close to 25-30 right without messing up. I am following the MGMAT program. So far, I have completed the Number Properties book and almost done with the Equations, Inequalities book.

The only issue is with the harder questions I tend to take up to 3 minutes to answer. I figure with the time I save with the easier ones, I might afford to spend up to 3 minutes with about 3 to 5 questions of the 37 quantitative questions. I might have to practice this theory first. I'll get to that later.

I have gotten a tad bit better with the SC as well. But still horrible. I just completed chapter 2 of the MGMAT SC book. Got ways to go with both the quantitative and Verbal.

Maybe I should not get ahead of myself.

Keep up the good work! The only caveat I have is to be careful about the difficult questions in Quant. Remember, the GMAT is adaptive. If you're doing well, it won't take long for you to get to the Hard bin, and who knows, maybe you'll be doing the hard questions for most of the Math section.

My advice is to work on your pace for the tough quant questions. Best of luck!

I took the GMAr in Feb. did not do too well in the math section that's why I am retaking it, but I would agree that the questions are similar although I found some of the questions in the test a little bit more complicated, but maybe it was me who started to loose confidence as the test was progressing... :?
If you are getting 90% right you should be fine unless the "G Day" you really mess up the firts 10 questions...

Just want to echo what Eric said - you won't see that many "easy' questions. Most of the questions you see will be close to the range in which you're scoring, but you will see at least a few that you cannot do even in 3 minutes. No matter how well you're doing, the test can (and will) throw something at you that you can't do.

Just be aware that you don't want to spend 3 (or more) minutes on more than a couple of math problems on the test - and make absolutely sure that you don't go over 3 minutes. It's easy to blow 5 minutes on a problem and not even realize how much time you've spent. (And if you spend 5 minutes on a problem, chances are very high that you'll get it wrong anyway, b/c if you're spending that much time, it's just an indication that you don't really know how to do it...)
