I'm in my third year of law school with a B average. I'm considering business school. The problem is that I don't have much work experience although my internships are very strong and high-level. I'm 28 and at a third-tier law school.

What are my chances of getting admitted into business school? I know that I couldn't go to a top 10, but perhaps Emory or some other program at that level would be possible.

Dear Charles,

Whether or not you are competitive for a school like Emory will depend greatly on how you do on the GMAT and how well you make a compelling case for your MBA candidacy. The first thing schools will want to know is why do you want your MBA and how does that fit in with law school and your overall career plan. A high GMAT score will also be helpful since you have minimal work experience and average grades in law school. Going to business school is not a backup plan or a place to hang out after law school, so be sure to present a strong rationale for why you want to get another graduate degree.
