Honestly, I think the Q scores of Chinese folks are probably legit. They have better foundations in math as do Indians compared to Americans. The hardest part about Q to them is learning the vocabulary - integers, combinations etc. So a high Q score is no surprise.

It's the verbal scores that astound me. Barely having the ability to speak English and scoring > 35 on V is shocking or even 32. I'm no genius in verbal

Anything higher than 35V would suggest that either they have a real command of english or that they're cheating. However, we live in a society where people are innocent until proven guilty so I guess this witchhunt i'm suggesting is not a good idea.

51Q and 35 V is still a 710 ish though ... 32V would be a 690ish.

It's very, very tough to prosecute a Chinese entity in China on a suit filed by a non-Chinese entity. The reason is that the Chinese government, whose job it is to prosecute, almost never agrees to whip one of it's own to please a foreigner. As a lawyer dealing in foreign investment and foreign trade, I'm very wary of the Chinese when it comes to implementation of Chinese law.

I remember a colleague talking about an international arbitration case involving a Chinese party and a foreign party. The arbitration award went went in favour of the foreign party. Guess what the Chinese did? They just got up and walked away. They knew they would not be prosecuted in China.

Of Course, it gets worse. No country can force China to adhere to international laws, or protocols. It's too big, too powerful, and too important to be bullied. So I doubt if this 'JJ' thing will be closed upon international pressure. How about kneeling down and pleading to the Chinese administration to do MBA applicants a huge favour by outlawing the 'JJ'.

But why would they want to when it's benefiting them?

for us foreign students a GMAT score more than 700 would be necessary for applying to a fine university. no doubt that the JJ exist but the actual bebefits seem quite limited, effects that can only make a high score higher.

chinese students are excellent math takers, that's true.so we generally need less than a week to get a perfect score for Q section. guys who get more than two or three math questions wrong would even feel ashamed...

the probable only benefit of JJ would be less time to understand a passage in the Reading Comprehension part.

to be honest, the verbal section really troubling for non-american test takers. JJ's benefits have been always exaggerated by some people for particular purposes.

besides, despite the limited benefits of JJ, why it still exist today? i guess everyone who has seen the JJ would feel a duty to write his own JJ...

GRE was canceled several years ago as a computer assisted test, because of the JJ. then why not cancel GMAT as a CAT? because JJ doesnot matter much for GMAT.

another truth is the rocketing English level in recent years, don't be fooled by the media...a common sense of chinese citizens

finally, in my opinion the reason behind the JJ would possibly be a lack of belief for a long period in the last several decades. no strong unethical feelings...sometimes i get feared that a people without beliefs might either achieve miracles or destroy itself...both against the rules

I don't care how much "JJ" this guy has collected for getting such score, but the way he manipulates things simply sickened me.

I went to college and graduate school in Canada & the U.S, but I happen to be able to read and speak Chinese. "JJ" is just test takers' recollection of questions asked on the test. If you were a test taker, under stress, would you care to remember details of questions(including choices given). So "JJ" is simply blurry description of question types and ideas. I would not call this "cheating" becase if I do I would be doing more cheating with OG. JJ may help some people in certain extent, but "JJ" is definitly not as "powerful" as this self-proclaimed Korean decribed. We see many Chinese ppl score exceptional high on GMAT becuase their education system has extreme focus on exams and math. They have been trained to write all kinds of standardized tests since middle school.

FYI: The "lawsuit" in his post was reported in 2001, and it was about some GMAT material pirating. It has nothing to do with "JJ" or cheating. Who are this guy trying to fool? is he trying to sell his "Information" or to downplay certain ppl? Whatever is his mind, This post is a coward's deed.

I am a Chinese, this website received some attention in Chinese circle because of this article. So I came here trying to share what I know and feel with you. However, just before starting, I found the recent 2 replies in front of me already expressed most of what I am going to say.

1) Sharing test questions is indeed unfair to any other test takers who do not have such information including many Chinese. And never say or think that people from a certain country, region, ethnic or religion are all blablabla. It's never true but only immature.

2) I don't believe the high score is so easy to get as some people think even with so called "jj". Many test-takers in China fail for several times before they get a pleasing score. The GMAC and business school can't be so stupid. The major reason that some people win, I believe, is they spent much more time and energy than you imagine.

3) GMAT is just one criterion that business schools use to select candidates. And even a well-known MBA degree is just one tool to help you to succeed. If such things bother you a lot, you can not survive in a fierce and dangerous real society; no mention the elites' circle.

4) Another reason that Chinese get so high scores is that they have much less other material or background to distinguish them when comparing with native candidates. And they just compete with themselves, at least no more than Asian. To be honest, as English-speaking people, if you are so worried about the GMAT, GRE, LSET and CFA etc. how do you think a Chinese would feel on them? These exams from the U.S. never think they need to consider the candidates' English ability but just test other ability or knowledge in their own language. So the world never offers absolute and forever justice. As a feeble, the only thing could do is to fight for what you want or give up. Right now, more generally speaking, when comparing the Chinese with Westerners, they may have more chance, but they definitely face more difficulties.

As a Chinese, I sincerely invite you to come to China and meet some Chinese, or at least, read and listen more about China. It is neither a country of hero nor evil. It's a country with one fifth of the world population, the same size as the U.S., the same GDP as Japan and what's more important, a country with thousands of years of history once hit its summit in Tang Dynasty.

P.S. Since China has a totally different (and confusing) political system from the U.S., please never put Chinese government and its people together.

I have been burning my days n night in work and preparation and some guys are easily scoring 700+ with these kinds of help. This will cause problem to genuine guys opting for B-schools.

this entire JJ scandal is very shameful. it's a good thing that we caught this luckytest in our fishing hook by serendipity but i feel that deactivating his account wont do much. i guess there's action already taken by GMAC:

how do you expect to wing it.. when u score 800 on the gmat and u cant speak a word of english.. that makes no sense.. ur gonna get caught.. when its that obvious

@Anntaylor - your info is a testimony to the fact that such miscreants are funneled out at some stage in their lives whether it is in school or in employment. and in fact there are so many stages where one can get caught even earlier, such as comparing language and writing samples from AWAs to the school essays to in-person interviews by local/regional alumni of the school (Stanford, HBS, Columbia have regional alumni clubs all over the world), etc. and i've even heard cases where people with 800 have been rejected by schools, such as Stanford, HBS.. because their score is so perfect that their other parts of applications are simply the opposite!

BUT, the point is - people do get through, overstepping on potentially well-deserving others who lose a year or two or even a lifetime opportunity due to such unethical behavior. and i think the schools, GMAC, and even employers who recruit from top schools should work very closely in order to scrutinize the entire pipeline thoroughly and to reprimand such miscreants to open up the channel for the true intellectuals
