Hi everyone!

I have a few general querries regarding the admission processes. Kindly help me out here.

Note: I am talking about only American Universities here and kindly put in a perspective keeping in mind international applicants.

1. What's the difference between applying to a top ranked private school and applying to a high ranked "State" University Business School. Apart from one major difference between fee structure, what are the other factors that should affect our decisions while choosing between these two?

2. Are scholarships offered if we apply in 2nd round of application? Or only first round is reserved for scholarships?

3. Is there any reliable/published course-wise ranking list? Like rankings of schools in Operations Management, Finance etc.

1) There is no difference in schools at the MBA level

2) Almost all schools have a specific deadline for scholarship consideration, this typically coincides with round 2

Some of the best business schools in the country are "state" schools. Think about UC Berkeley Haas, UCLA Anderson and University of Michigan Ross. All top schools, all state schools. Also, I would recommend not just relying on lists to figure out which schools have a specialty. Check out employment reports from your interested schools and try to talk to as many current students as you can to learn more about the school.
