Hi Kush,
I used to have this same problem! I read the Mgmat Number properties book and it really helped. Basically, factors and multiples are opposites. If you think about a factor tree, factors will always go under the tree while multiples will aways go on the top of the tree.

For example, if you are drawing a factor tree of the number 6. THe number three, a factor will alway go under the tree, while the number 12, a multiple, will go on top of the tree.

I think it helps to visualize it.
