Thanks for starting to play the Beat The GMAT $100K Challenge. In less than 24 hours, almost 100 of you have already started liking and sharing.

I'm writing to let you know that Facebook is totally down right now. (Here's a report from the Huffington Post that describes the situation.) And so this makes playing the $100K Challenge impossible for now. :(

We're sorry about the fact that you can't earn points right now. Once Facebook comes back up, you should be able to start playing again right away.

On the bright side, you should know that there will be new bonuses by tomorrow. I'll let you know when the new bonuses go live. In the meantime, let's all pray that Facebook comes back online ASAP! :)

Thanks for your patience!

I feel like it's working "in shifts." It's good for a few hours then it goes bust again. I'm assuming they'll be fixing this soon though.

Yeah Dana and David facebook is down for since 10 pm IST....Its going and coming again & again....Its really frustrating...
Even I lost 'LIKE' & 'share' button on my website www.webmaggu.com . I thought facebook has disabled it or what....

But I think there is a problem in facebook servers or may be some physical part failure which is creating this problem...Win Win situation for orkut btw.... :)..
Lots of new there on facebook being down when u google it....so be happy and wait for fbk to regain from its bad health..

I am totally into game and enjoying it....more over learning new things(as i revise the old post again)

But i personally feel if it is not too many too often it would be better ...as facebook might consider we are spamming ....sharing too many links too often....
I dont feel facebook will do that but just a precaution as one of my friend lost(disabled) his account for sharing too many links too often(he guesses..)......(but that was around 6 months ago)

but as a facebook applications developer i am bit concerned as in application development rules are much strict.I dont see any concrete TOS saying you are not allowed to share more than x links in a day but sad part of story i have heard is ...their is no any warning or such thing....

so it would be irony to lose a account in leu of getting another thing...he he
any way only bit concerned....
but for now...seems good...
great job...
thanks

@frank1, glad that you're enjoying the game! We're trying to make it a fun and mostly easy way to learn about both the GMAT and Beat The GMAT itself. Stay tuned for even more ways to earn points that are different from likes and shares.

I also totally understand your concerns about Facebook spam. We definitely don't want any of our members getting banned from Facebook because of Facebook spam. Your friend must have shared tons of things because I have some friends who share lots of links every day. It's sort of annoying for me to see all their shares in my stream. But they definitely haven't been banned! :)

That's actually why we're limiting the # of likes to 5 per day. And we're aiming to only have 2-3 shares per day at most.

FYI, before we developed this game, we studied many other Facebook games and apps to make sure that what we were doing would be kosher. We also talked to a friend who work at Facebook to check whether what we were doing is OK. All the research indicated that our game should be OK.

Thanks...
But was just a word of caution but i think thing is fine for now....
Moreover i do feel facebook knows beatthegmat and difference between quality content(links) and real spam....

thanks once again

thanks again frank. we're only going to be asking our members to "share" quality content.

i think every content in this forum qualifies for all the requirement of being "quality content" and has been of great help to gmat candidates...
indeed thanks for that...

hi,
I want to participate in the game but am unable to register. Whenever I try to register after logging in with my facebook account, I get the message:

Your Facebook account is not eligible because it was created after Sep 1, 2010, or has less than 25 friends.

Please help!
Thanks

@russty, i'm sorry but you can't play if your facebook account is new. if you created your facebook account before sep 1, then you can play by adding more friends. we put this restriction in place to minimize the chance that people will game the system.

Is facebook down right now?

When I click on 'Login with facebook' on BTG, the button just doesn't work?

Please advice. I have all 5 likes left before they get expired in another 2 hours :(
