(1) JK + KL = 21. Insufficient

(2) KL + LM = 26. Insufficient

Blending (1) and (2) serves no purpose as we only have two simultaneous equations in three variables.

Just wanted to pitch it how I solved it:

It is clear, as was already stated that both statements taken alone are insufficient

Taken together:
This might be a little strange but I used the Groups Equation.

G1 = 21
G2 = 26
Both = x (which is what we're trying to find)
Neither = 0 (there is no distance that is neither)

Total Distance= G1 + G2 - Both + Neither
Total Distance = 21 + 26 - x + 0
Total Distance = 47 - x

we don't have total distance => we can't find x

Answer: E

Unless we are given that the distance between the exits are spaced out in a particular manner,we can't predict anything.
Hence,E should be the answer.

i need to begin drawing things out instead of defaulting to "oh it can be solved w/ algebra"... becomes too confusing
