Key is to realize that it hardly matters when you remove 100 or 1000 from a number as high as 10^8 or 10^7

I would just consider problem as (10^8/10^7)=10

I think trick is many would just try to find rule of exponents would simplify the problem!

iamcste - You are absolutely right,, I was trying to solve it using exponent rules and got caught on the wrong foot. :(

the way i did it...

10^8 - 10^2/10^7-10^3 = 10 - 10^-1 = 10 - 1/10 = approx 10....

and i think the original question says what is the approximate value...
