Explanation on few SC questions please

Q1) Many companies pay almost twice as much to men, if the effect of faster promotions, more bonuses, and better benefits are regarded as salary, than to women, who earn 77 cents for every dollar their male counterparts earn in base salary.

(A) are regarded as salary, than
(B) are regarded as salary, as
(C) is regarded as salary, than it pays
(D) is regarded as salary, as is paid
(E) is regarded as salary, as they pay

Why D is incorrect? Between option D and E and I chose D but the correct answer is E. Can someone please explain?

Q2) Unlike Christmas, Jews only see Jesus as a prophet; they do not think of him as the Messiah, nor do they view him as the son of God.

(A) nor do they view him
(B) but they do not view him
(C) neither do they view him
(D) and they neither view him
(E) while viewing him neither

Between option A and C and I chose option C but the correct answer is A. Can someone please explain why can’t I use ‘neither’ in the example above?

Q3) In recent years, despite the ethnocentrism of Western cultures, Eastern customs are understood in the international community.

(A) are understood
(B) are becoming better understood
(C) which have gained understanding
(D) have become understood
(E) have since become understood

Between option A and D I chose option A but the correct answer is D. Can someone please explain why A is incorrect?

Q4) More than ever, Manolo Blahniks are expected to be sold this season, due to their mention on the popular television show GMAT and the city.

(A) More than ever, Manolo Blahniks are expected to be sold this season,
(B) It is expected that more Manolo Blahniks than ever will be sold this season than previously and that is
(C) The Manolo Blahniks expected to be sold this season is more than ever
(D) The amount of Manolo Blahniks that will be sold this season is expected to be greater than ever
(E) A great increase in the number of Manolo Blahniks expected to be sold this season is

I chose option C but the correct answer is D. Can someone please explain why D is correct and C is incorrect?

Q5) Because Albert is the most experienced and he is there the best ballet dancer in the company, he is being increasingly viewed by the director as the best candidate for the role of the Nutcracker.

(A) and he is there the best ballet dancer in the company, he is being increasingly viewed
(B) he is therefore the best of ballet dancers, and it has increased the view
(C) and therefore the best ballet dancer, he is being increasingly viewed
(D) and therefore he is the best of ballet dancers, and there is an increasing view
(E) therefore being the best of ballet dancers, it is increasingly viewed

I generally ignore the options which include words not correct in the GMAT word such as being. I chose option D but the correct answer is E. Can someone please shed some light on this?

Q6) the steps of the ceramic process in which the students will be involved is in the molding and smoothing of the shape, and in the decoration of the finished item.

(A) is in the molding and smoothing of the shape, and in the decoration
(B) is the molding and smoothing of the shape, and also the decoration
(C) are the molding, smoothing of the shape, and in the decorating
(D) are the molding, smoothing of the shape, and the decoration
(E) is in the molding and smoothing of the shape, and the decorating

I thought process is the subject here and hence will take singular verb so I had to choose between A, B and E and I chose option E but the correct answer is D. Can someone please explain by D is correct?

Thanks for the reply.

My apologies if I was not clear in my previous post. I am not struggling with timings and generally manage to answer a SC question in less than a minute.

I use POE approach to answer all SC questions and generally left with 2. I do not understand why the given answer is right for the six questions I posted and just needed some one to explain.

I use POE approach to answer all SC questions and generally left with 2. I do not understand why the given answer is right for the six questions I posted and just needed some one to explain.
