Expired passport! Wanna take the Gmat please help

Hi guys,
I need help and advices ASAP!
I was recently turned away from a testing center and had to forfeit the registration fees. The reason for the denial was that i presented an expired passport.
Now here's my issue, I was recently granted a political asylum in the United State. Because I fear for my safety, I can't go to the embassy, nor I can travel to my home country to try to renew my passport. I'm also in the process of getting a green card, but I don't know how long that will take. I'm trying to take the gmat now, so I can go back to school next fall.
Has anyone ever be in that situation?
What can I do?
