Amphibian populations are declining in numbers worldwide. Not coincidentally, the earth's ozone layer has been continuously depleted throughout the last 50 years. Atmospheric ozone blocks UV-B, a type of ultraviolet radiation that is continuously produced by the sun, and which can damage genes. Because amphibians lack hair, hide, or feathers to shield them, they are particularly vulnerable to UV-B radiation. In addition, their gelatinous eggs lack the protection of leathery or hard shells. Thus, the primary cause of the declining amphibian population is the depletion of the ozone layer. Each of the following, if true, would strengthen the argument EXCEPT:

(A) Of the various types of radiation blocked by atmospheric ozone, UV-B is the only type that can damage genes.

I would go about this question as below.

First and the foremost we have to support the reason for amphibian population depletion
which is "primary cause of the declining amphibian population is the depletion of the ozone layer"

check each option whether it would help to reach to the above reason as correct.

B - talks about -protection from UV rays(this states that ozone is declining) ---supports reason

C- directly refers "depletion of ozone" -supports reason

D -This proves that "natural habitat" is not the cause -supports reason

E - It says ozono has depleted from past 50 years and so is the amphibian population (so there is a connection with ozone depletion and population) --supports reasons

A - "UV-B is the only type that can damage genes" - is unrelated to the reason.
If in this case, we are not given that "damage of genes" can cause depletion of amphibian population. But its the depletion of ozone layer. --does not support reason
