Hi

Would like assessment of my chances to get into NYU Langone.

GMAT: 720 (47q/42v)
Undergraduate GPA: 3.1 in Computer Science, from NYU
Proffesional Experience: 9 Years in top 3 consumer bank in the world. Worked in credit Risk Management for credit cards, followed by retail banking products.
Career progression: Started out as junior analyst. Consistent and progressive record of promotions, awards, and achievements. I am currently a senior manager with some people management experience.
Recommendations: 1 Recommendation from NYU alumn, the other from top 10. Both are executive level Risk managers.
Goal: Would like to learn more about 'formal' business side of things, feel like I hit a plateau when it comes to learning from experience.
Extracurricular: Don't really have any outside of work, may potentially be a weak point?
Other: Son of Jewish-Ukrainian immigrants, who came to America to avoid persecution and to give me an opportunity to succeed. I am positioning my essays with that theme in mind.

How are my chances? Any other information that would be helpful?

Dear revexrevex,

I think your profile is competitive for Langone with a strong GMAT/GPA. Your have substantial professional experience, so you will need to use that to your advantage in showing your progression and successful track record. The key for any part-time program, but especially one with a large volume of applications like Langone, is to convey a solid rationale for not only getting your MBA, but also getting your MBA at this time in your career and from Langone. I agree that your lack of extracurriculars could be a potentially weak point, but might not be significant with an otherwise stellar application.
