The exhibition of ancient Egyptian funerary art — imposing statues, intricately painted coffins, and numerous accoutrements, drew hundreds of people each day, equivalent to the number of visitors to last year’s Impressionist show.

A. equivalent to the number of visitors to last year’s Impressionist show.
B. the equivalent of those that visited last year’s Impressionist show.
C. equal to those who visited
D. as many as the visitation to
E. as many as visited

Please explain..

Options C, D and E look incomplete to me. Can you please confirm and re-post the question if required? thanks.

A& B are wrong due to equivalent.....equivalent means approximatey equal to...we can use the same for non countable things....

people can't be equivalent...

D looks awkward...

Ans can be from C if they its like "equal to the number of"

I go with E....

Amounts can be equivalent, not people, so take out A & B.

Again 'equal' in C could be used for ref. to number of people, that fig say 1000 of them etc, but 'equal' is certainly wrong in the context in this option.

D has an awkward construction.

is question completely posted?
If so,
IMO: B
equal to , can be used with numbers,
Equivalent to can be used with amount
Please share your idea and your reasoning :D

I think is E. Equivalent people is wrong. D is akward.

Which is the right answer?

OG questions are very clear.. :)

so, I guess we won't face this kind of questions in the gmat exam.
