Equation Problem - GMAT Practice Test

(seems like a straight forward problem but i am not getting the right answer which is (A)=5)

Help is appreciated.

Suppose, X= No. of $ 4000 schol.
Then, No. of $ 2500 schol. = 2x
And, No. of $1250 schol = 3(2x)

Now, we have Total of $ 1250 schol = 37500,
So, (6x)(1250)=3750
Which leads to x=5

I approached it like this:

First i set up the ratio

1250 : 2500 : 4000

ratio of 2500 scholarships to 4000 is

1250 : 2500 : 4000
-----------------------
2 : 1

Now 2nd part of the questions tells u ratio between 1250 and 2500 which is 3: 1


so my final ratio of all three is

1250 : 2500 : 4000
-----------------------
6 : 2 : 1

so if 37,500/ 1250 = 30 scholarships of 1250


so look at the ratio, for every 6 scholarship of 1250 , 1 scholarship of 4000 was awarded......


s0 for 30 /6 =5
