In addition to having more engineers than Brunswick Inc. does, the qualifications of
the engineers are better than those of Newton Group.
A. the qualifications of the engineers are better than those of
B. the engineers have qualifications better than those of
C. the qualifications of the engineers are better than they are of
D. the quality engineers are better than those of
E. the engineers have qualifications better than
[spoiler]
We are directly eliminate C, D and E but stucked between A and B, i choose A but OA is B.[/spoiler]

Can some one please explain :

First of all Question is INCORRECT.

Reason: Anyone/Anything that has more engineers than Brunswick Inc should come immediately after the comma,so the sentence should have been In addition to having more engineers than Brunswick Inc. does,Newton Group....

Even if i have to mark an answer than it is B.
Reason: B correctly uses ellipses
A. the qualifications of the engineers are better than those (qualifications) of Newton Group - WRONG COMPARISON
B. the engineers have qualifications better than those(engineers) of Newton Group - CORRECT COMPARISON

Well modifier seems to be a crucial issue here...still if i place WHAT before the modifier

WHAT In addition to having more engineers????

Then it should not be engineers, it must be another characteristic of the given company...as in the modifier one of the characteristic mentioned is that the company has more no of engineers, so u cannot relate a characteristic to an engineer..as Op B, D, E did...the modifier must be followed by another characteristic, now Op A is wrong because if u re-phrase this choice u will get...

the qualifications of the engineers are better than [the qualifications] those of Newton Group. so this op is incorrectly comparing qualifications of engineers to the qualifications of the group. This is wrong

Hence IMO B
