Did your talk with someone on the admissions committe or was this information something you got from other applicants, current students or alumni of the program? My guess is that the message the person was trying to convey is that you need to communicate in the application process why you believe you will be a valuable addition to the class. With only 4 years of experience, I am assuming you are on the low end for an Executive program. So, you will want to make sure you demonstrate you have the maturity level to work on teams with folks with greater than 10 years experience. Likewise, you will want to highlight the quality of your work experience--supervising staff, budget responsibility, etc.

Small companies do not put you at a disadvantage, per se, in comparison to large companies. It is what you do at your job and its impact on the company the admissions folks are interested in knowing about you.
