A certain electric-company plan offers customers reduced rates for electricity used between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. weekdays and 24 hours a day Saturdays and Sundays. Under this plan, the reduced rates apply to what fraction of a week?

12 hours for 5 days = 60 hours
24 hours for 2 days = 48 hours

Total hours in a week = 7 * 24 = 168

Fraction is - 108/168 or 27/42
9/14
? how many votes?

Well I think this is a short way:

5 days times one half = 5/2
2 days times one =2
from 7 days means

(5/2+2)/7 = 9/14
