Lines can be parallel in a Euclidean system of geometry. But the non-Euclidean system of geometry that has the most empirical verification is regarded by several prominent physicists as correctly describing the universe we inhabit. If these physicists are right, in our universe there are no parallel lines.
Which one of the following is an assumption that is required by the argument?
(A) There are no parallel lines in the non-Euclidean system of geometry that has the most empirical verification.

What exactly were you drinking when you posted this CR question here ? :lol:

(A) There are no parallel lines in the non-Euclidean system of geometry that has the most empirical verification.

This is a defender type of assumption and it eliminates the doubt one may have. If you negate this answer, you will see that conclusion will fall apart.

There are SOME parallel lines in the non-Euclidean system of geometry that has the most empirical verification.

If there are SOME // lines

The conclusion does not need to be true

If these physicists are right, in our universe there are no parallel lines.

i wasnt drunk...i was half slept...........Ahhh...i posted same in CR forum...after realizing this..But in option B...if u choose it also fell apart..infact im still not convinced by A. cn u explain it in better manner

I was torn between A and C

IMO the assumption must be something that connects parallel lines and non euclidian geometry.
