Conveyed meaning:
John and Mary are equally good at singing.
Why is E wrong? what role does 'as well as' play in that choice?
E: Eating fish may reduce the risk as well as aiding suffers.
Conveyed meaning:
Eating fish and aiding sufferers may be equally good at reducing the risk.
Not the intended meaning.

This is an issue of PARALLELISM. The intended meaning of the sentence is that eating saltwater fish does 2 things: 1) reduce risk, and 2) aid sufferers. As such, we need REDUCE and AID to be in parallel formats.

As written, E makes "aiding" parallel to "eating." This meaning, as Mitch described, is nonsensical.
