Total Distance = 60
Total gallons used = 10/25 + 50/40 = 33/20

Avg mpg = 60 * 20 / 33 ~ 36

Total Miles Travelled = 60

Total Gas used = 10/25 + 50/40 = 33/20

Average=60/(33/20) = 400/11 = ~36

city-25mpg
thus for 10 miles, gallons used = 10/25=2/5
highway 40- mpg
thus for 50 miles, gallons used = 50/40=5/4
total distance = 60 miles. total gallons used = 2/5 + 5/4 = 33/20
thus mpg = 60/(33/20)=400/11=36.4
Thus 36
