During an experiment, Emily collected 11 different temperature readings, all of which were integers. How many of the temperature readings were negative?

1) The median temperature reading was -1.
2) Exactly five of the temperature readings were positive.

The OA is A.

I need help to solve this DS question. Can any expert help me with it, please? Thanks.

Statement 1:
In ascending order, the 11 temperatures look as follows:
_ _ _ _ _ -1 _ _ _ _ _.
Since all of the temperatures must be distinct integers, the five blanks in blue must represent 5 negative integers (all less than -1), while the five blanks in red must represent 5 nonnegative integers (all 0 or greater).
Since the negative readings are composed of the 5 blue blanks and the median of -1, the total number of negative readings = 6.
SUFFICIENT.

Statement 2:
Case 1: -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
In this case, the total number of negative readings = 5.
Case 2: -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
In this case, the total number of negative readings = 6.
Since the total number of negative readings can be different values, INSUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is A.
