In the xy-plane, the sides of a certain rectangle are parallel to the axes. If one of the
vertices of the rectangle is (-1,-2), what is the perimeter of the rectangle?
(1)One of the vertices of the rectangle is (2, -2).
(2)One of the vertices of the rectangle is (2, 3).
ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
A. Statement (1)
B. Statement (2)
ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is
sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.

To draw a rectangle in the co-ordinate system (then find its permimeter), solely with infromation about its vertices, we need at least three of them

(1)One of the vertices of the rectangle is (2, -2).

no here we can join (-1,-2), (2, -2) to get lenght of two sides opp to each other but other two sides cannot be determined INSUFF

(2)One of the vertices of the rectangle is (2, 3).

Now if we join (-1,-2), (2, 3) then the side formed will not be parallel to the the axes hence need join them by drawing lines parallel to the axes from these pts & then joining them at the intersection of the lines to form a rectangle whose perimeter will be determinable
