DS Question

If xy= -18 is x less than y?

(1) x < 0

(2) y< 10

I thought since this is a yes or no question that (1) was suff since it means that x will always be a negative number and in order to get a negative 18 y would have to be positive. Thanks for your help!

(1) is sufficient, for exactly the reason you gave.

(2) is insufficient, because we have no clue if y is + or - (for example, we could choose y=2 and x= -9 or x=2 and y= -9)

(A) is correct.
