or 2/x+2/y=6...sufficient

no information on the value of x or y hence not sufficient

(1) x+y=3xy multiply both sides by 2/xy
2x/xy + 2y/xy = 3xy*2/xy
2/y+2/x = 6
Suff
(2) x = y
x & y can be any value
so not necessarily 4/x = 6
Insuff
IMO A

Hi Liferocks:

Actually the question is: 2/x + 2/y = 6, but if you simplify this stm, you'll get x + y = 3xy, so stm1 is the same as the question, so it s not suficient. Am I wrong?

Stm2:

Staritng from x + y = 3xy (simplified from question stem), if x = y, then for x=-2, y=2, the stm is false, if they were fractions, for example 1/2 , stm is false also. So, IMHO, it s B.

Did I miss something?

By simplifying the given equation we get statement 1
Thus statement 1 is sufficient if its true
while in case of statement 2 we have more than one value of x and y for it to be suff.

Thus Ans is A
